内容摘要：Using ten waves of anationwidesurvey(from 1993 to 2012) onprivately-ownedenterprises in China,this paper studies theinstitutionalfactorsthat lead to theChinese entrepreneurs’imbalancedperceptions of politicalstatus and economic wealth. We alsoexplorehow this imbalance influences the political participation ofprivateentrepreneurs.The articlefindsthat the disparityin entrepreneurs’ perceptions ofpoliticalstatus and economic status issignificantly affected bythe quality of localinstitutions.It furthershows that privateentrepreneurswith lower perceptionofpoliticalstatusversuseconomic status have stronger incentivestodevelopconnections with the Party or(and)the government.

邓燕华，香港中文大学政治与行政学博士，南京大学社会学系教授、博士生导师，南京大学当代中国研究院副院长、《中国研究》（CSSCI集刊）编辑部主任，入选中组部**计划“青年拔尖人才”、南京大学登峰计划，主要研究政治社会学，学术成果发表在China Quarterly、China Journal、Journal of Contemporary China、 Modern China、Political Studies、《中国社会科学》、《管理世界》和《社会学研究》等杂志。
